Green Bay Sail & Paddle began in 2001 with a vision to promote youth and family engagement with our community’s waterways. Established as a non-profit in 2016, our mission is to provide opportunities for everyone to enjoy sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and other water sports on the bay of Green Bay.
Our founders partnered with International Youth Sailing of Oshkosh to offer a one-week program in 2016, introducing 238 youth to sailing. The positive response led to expanding our programs, including the purchase of new Hobie® Wave catamarans in 2017 and the creation of the Women’s Sailing Series and Adaptive Programming. By 2017, we had over 1,200 participants, many of whom returned for more.
Thanks to donors and sponsors, we offer scholarships to ensure everyone can participate. We’ve collaborated with numerous community organizations, including the YMCA, Boy Scouts, and local schools, to broaden access to our programs.
In 2018, we expanded our fleet and supported events like the 2018 Para World Sailing Championships. Our Women’s Sailing Series grew, and we attracted scouts from across the Midwest.
Green Bay Sail & Paddle connects our community with the world’s largest freshwater tributary through sailing and paddle sports, providing lifelong educational experiences and enhancing the quality of life for youth and adults. We look forward to expanding our impact in the coming years.
